Coupons and Charities
Unfortunately, charitable groups are often unknowingly drawn
into scams by con artists. These con artists will often pay for coupons by the pound.
These con artists make no distinction in selecting their victims. Fund-raising groups for churches,
hospitals, high schools, libraries and all sorts of other good causes have been drawn into
these scams. The group may make some money in the short term, but jeopardize their reputations.
These good people are often easy prey for con artists. See what one person convicted of a felony
for selling coupons to benefit a charitable organization said about her situation:
We’ve never lied in our lives. We taught our children not to lie. When you go in to report
for probation, and to identify (with) what’s in there – drug addicts, the scum of the earth—and
we identify with that, it’s sinful,
it’s shameful.
Don't let a con artist steal your reputation!
